Welcome to Frontstreet Squirrels Run Amok. I'm happy you're here!

My apologies if you were expecting to see frolicking squirrels - this isn't directly related to squirrels despite the title.  This blog is about art and creativity in various forms. But what does this have to do with squirrels?

Well, we've all seen those adorable little creatures scampering around, running back & forth, up and down zipping frantically, then stopping to beg for peanuts.  When I'm thinking about art or creativity in general, my brain acts quite like squirrels running amok. I may be trying to focus on a card design and my mind zips to different styles of cards, colors, papers, stamps, etc. In the next moment I'm thinking about my art journals, altered books, painting or a technique I want to try.  It's exciting but exhausting and the result is that I usually have several different projects in process at a time.  I welcome all of this because creating art of any form makes me happy.

What you'll see in this blog are results of my squirrel brain - a mishmash of creations based on whatever I'm working on at the moment.  Soon I'll begin the Altenew Educators' Program and will be posting cards created for the lessons.  Then in early July I'll be attending a class at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology in Otis, Oregon. Dayna Collins, an amazing artist, will be teaching her color saturated oil and cold wax techniques in a beautiful forested setting just a few miles from the Oregon coast. I hope to post some photos of the experience.

Thanks for stopping by!
